Thanks to everyone who took part in the UCD Open - it's great to see such a high turn out at an Airgun match and hopefully it will be a regular occurrence at Airgun matches in the future.

Congratulations to our all our prize winners, especially Ray Kane, Laura Cunningham and Peter Friend who won the AR 60, AR 40 and AP, respectively. A special word of welcome and congratulations is also necessary for all the novice shooters from UCDRC, DURC and WTSC who were taking part in their first competitive match.

If your licence extension has expired

E-mail Print

Some of you may be in the situation where your firearms certificate has been applied for, but it has neither been approved nor issued and you may wish to compete in the intervening time even though your extension has expired.

The NTSA wish to advise anyone in this situation to contact their Garda Station or Superintendent's Office and request a permit under section 2(3)(a) of the Firearms Act for the firearm in question to cover a set period of time sufficient to allow the new licence to issue or up to the date of the competition they wish to attend. This will allow the use of the firearm on a range authorised under section 2(4)(d) of the Firearms Act and the right to possess and carry said firearm.

We are not advising anyone who has been refused a licence to follow this route as it is unlikely that an issuing person would issue a permit where they have refused a licence.
