The 50m Open in Fermoy Rifle Club was won by Sandy Wilson of East Coast Shooting Club with a score of 579. Second was National Champion Tony Cogan with a score of 575 and third was Conor McDermottroe of DURC with a 570. Conditions on the day were extremely tricky with gusts of wind, extreme changes of light and showers of rain making consisitency very difficult.

The turnout for the competeition was double that of last years. Hopefully that trend will continue next year. With the new N8 opened, the journey time from Dublin is significantly reduced, so there should be no excuses!

Fermoy have a very well designed range, which is well situated and comfortable to shoot on. The conditions obviously were poor, but that in no way detracted from what was a very valuable and enjoyable experience. 50m ranges of a suitable standard are few enough and the NTSA are much obliged to FRC for running this competition.

Special mention must be made of David Franklin who's hard work on the range is starting to pay off. A 552 in yesterday's conditions is no mean feat!
